4to. [290 x 225 x 50 mm]. [1]f, viii, [96] pp. Bound in contemporary half olive goatskin with gilt fillet borders, marbled paper sides, smooth spine lettered in gilt, marbled endleaves, top edge gilt,the others untrimmed. (Slightly rubbed).

A fine copy. Originally published in eight parts between 1833 and 1840. The work was interrupted at the end of the sixth part by the death of Smith, and was finished by Bohn. It is true to the title, in offering a wealth of historical and literary curiosities.
