A very good clean copy. The bindings show signs of wear but are structurally sound and still handsome (with especially attractive labels).

This is the first Thompson-Price edition (the red labels are lettered "Thompson's Josephus") and was followed by a single volume edition in 1795. The ESTC entry notes that it was issued in parts, and copies are found with a subscriber's list in vol.1. No subscriber's list was ever present in this copy.

Bookplate of George Norris (1766-1832) of Wood Norton Hall, Norfolk.
