Susanna and the Elders. SAYER (Robert) & BENNETT (John).
The first known instance of cross-examination on record is to be found in the case in which the Prophet Daniel defended Susanna against the false accusation of the elders. Engraved by Francesco Bartolozzi after a painting by Paolo Caliari (Veronese).
