Paddy Chayefsky, original name Sidney Aaron Chayefsky, was an American playwright and screenwriter. His work played an important role in the emergence and rise of television dramas in the 1950s. Chayefsky earned four Academy Award nominations throughout his career, three for Original Screenplays and one for an Adapted. He is the only writer in movie history to win three solo writing Academy Awards.
