Panorama D'Angleterre. MALO (Charles).
Panorama D'Angleterre, ou Ephémérides Anglaises, Politiques et Littéraires.
Vol.1 with engraved frontispiece portrait of Mistress Siddons, double-page engraved musical score, hand-coloured plate of "Modes Anglaise" and folding hand-coloured plate of "Ordre des Chevaliers de la Bombe". Vol.2 with double-page engraved musical score as frontispiece.
Two volumes. 8vo. [213 x 133 x 75 mm]. [1]f, iv, 332 pp; [1]f, 260, 273-348, [3] pp. Uncut and partly unopened. bound with the original printed pink front wrappers in modern boards with printed labels.
Paris: au Bureau du Panorma; chez Plancer; et chez tous les Libraires des départemens, 1817-1818.
A little light damp-staining at the front of vol.2, but a very good copy. Vol.1 is dated Juillet 1817 and vol.2 Janvier 1818. The work appears to be very rare: there is a copy in the Bibliothèque Nationale and OCLC lists one at Minnesota. It is not in the British Library or the Bodleain catalogues.
The work is full of information and observation, and pokes some fun at the English. The hand-coloured folding plate is of a scatalogical nature.
